IBSMA Becomes Nonprofit Association, to Seat New Board of Directors

ANN ARBOR, MICH. (March 24, 2009) – The International Business Software Managers Association (IBSMA), with more than 2,500 practitioner-members worldwide, announces its incorporation as a United States 501 (c)(6) nonprofit association.

"We're thrilled that this new status will enable IBSMA members to have a greater role in the organization's direction and program development," says Steven Russman, IBSMA’s executive director.

All nonprofit organizations are subject to federal and state laws and regulations, including their own articles of incorporation and bylaws. IBMSA members will have opportunities to serve on boards and committees that shape the association's bylaws and practices. Members also will be able to vote for initiatives and elect directors and other representatives.

By incorporating as a nonprofit, IBSMA will be better positioned to grow through greater member participation and eligibility for public and private grants. IBSMA can also broaden its membership internationally and increase the diversity of its programs to address the needs of SAM practitioners at small, medium-size and large organizations.

IBSMA will continue to deliver the programs, services and publications that its members have come to rely on to further their careers in software asset management.

Your participation in IBSMA is more vital than ever. To become part of IBSMA's board of directors, submit an inquiry to Services@IBSMA.com by May 1, 2009. All members in good standing are eligible. Serving on an IBMSA board is not only a great way to network and gain valuable industry contacts but it demonstrates your commitment to enhancing the industry and furthering your professional development.

ISBMA expects to have its first nonprofit board meeting during the SAM Summit in Chicago, June 1-2, 2009.
