SAM Practitioners of the Year Draft International Standard

ANN ARBOR, MICH. (May 1, 2007) – Software asset management professionals around the globe devote countless volunteer hours to advance the industry as a whole by drafting standards of practice. Ten outstanding examples of these dedicated SAM pros have been named winners of the 2007 SAM Practitioner of the Year award by the International Business Software Managers Association.

IBSMA’s SAM Practitioner of the Year award, now in its second year, recognizes IT professionals who are examples of excellence in the practice of software asset management. This year, IBSMA selected individuals for their work on the international draft standard for software identification and tagging (ISO/IEC 19770-2).

The 2007 SAM Practitioners of the Year are: Kris Barker, Express Metrix; Doc Burnham, Equifax Inc.; Juan-Carlos Colosso, Adobe Systems; Howard Hastings, Decision Right; Steven Klos, Agnitio Advisors; Steven Mullins, ManageSoft; Ram Rathnam, Microsoft; Butch Sakashita, Questra Advisors; Derick Snyder, Microsoft; and John Tomeny, Sassafras Software.

Each of the ten winners will receive recognition for their contribution. The winners were chosen by an independent panel of experts from around the country affiliated with ECPweb and IBSMA. They will be honored at an awards ceremony in Chicago, May 14, during the 2007 SAM Summit.

“IBSMA’s SAM Practitioner of the Year winners have made tremendous contributions to software asset management this year,” said IBSMA Executive Director Steven Russman. “Their contribution and dedication toward drafting ISO/IEC 19770-2 went above and beyond the call.”
